Celebrate Your Talents

The PTA is excited to participate in the Reflections Program sponsored by the National PTA. This program recognizes the creativity and artistic talent of elementary students across the nation. How can your child get involved? First, select a category: film production, dance choreography, musical composition, photography, visual arts, or literature. Next, encourage your child to create an original work of art based on the 2008-2009 theme, “Wow!” Information packets can be requested by contacting the Reflections Program Chair, Tanya Clark-Stover, at tclarkstover@hotmail.com or 384-8020. The deadline for submitting an entry is December 9.

Shop for Easley

Several local merchants have extended their support to our PTA during this holiday shopping season. Just mention Easley when you check out at the register, and the following merchants will reward us with funds for our school.

• A Sea of Learning Parent-Teacher Store will donate 15% of sales made to members of the Easley community back to the school for our teachers to purchase classroom materials. Promotion ends December 15.
• The Bicycle Chain will donate 5% of sales made to members of the Easley community back to the school as a cash donation. Promotion ends December 31.

Read-A-Thon

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Easley Read-a-thon from November 3-9. Through your support, the PTA will be able to provide funding for technology needs within the school. Congratulations to Camille and Sophie who each won a pair of tickets to the Duke vs. UNC football game on November 29.

Volunteer of the Year Awards

The Executive Board is pleased to announce the winners of our 2008 Volunteer of the Year Awards. Congratulations to Ronda Stell and Marie Flowe-Dawson for being selected for this honor. We are deeply indebted to both of these individuals for their service and commitment to our school community. Thank you Ronda and Marie!

Literacy Night

Thank you to everyone who attended Literacy Night on November 3. Students enjoyed reading time with some of their favorite teachers, and parents enjoyed an informative reading workshop with Ray Alban. Special thanks to the faculty, staff and PTA board members who helped to make this evening so special. Thanks also to Gerald Henderson, Jon Scheyer and the Duke University Athletic Department for supporting our evening of reading. Congratulations to Bethany, Lainey, Mabel, and Michael for winning the awesome door prizes!
